Significance: Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Coonley estate for Chicago industrialist Avery Coonley and his wife, Queene Ferry of the Detroit-based Ferry Seed Company on a unique corner site across from the Des Plaines River in Riverside, Illinois between 1907 and 1910. Riverside, founded in 1869 as the nation's first planned community, was designed by America's preeminent landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted...The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and listed as a National Historic Landmark on December 30, 1970.
