ITOBMAI. SCHOOI. 1907 mitted to the District Meetings of the Constituency of the Church. Some ofthese accepted the plan and others rejected it. But before this could be rejected or put into operation a modus vivendihad been discovered. Teachers were so hired by the trustees that if for anyreason salaries cannot be paid within thirty days after they become due the eon-tracts shall become null and void unless both parties agree upon terms of con-tinuing. All back pay is to be provided for however as soon as possible fromCollege income. It is said this practical suggestion came from Professor OtlioWinger. By this plan the trustees are not obligated to go into debt contrary totheir former instructions from the church and yet allowed them to hire teaeh-lers and make provisions for conducting the school.
