Summary
A Pirate’s Life for Me! (Public Program)
Targeted at Assateague’s youngest visitors, this program’s goal is to introduce kids to the idea concepts of stewardship and environmental responsibility. Young participants use a treasure map to navigate hazards on a trail, explore a bone yard, hunt for shells and pick up and properly dispose of trash. At the end, participants find a “buried treasure” in the dunes that helps kids understand that they are key to preserving and protecting natural areas like Assateague Island.
