After he graduated in 1905, he worked as physical director of YMCA centres in Concord, NH; Lacrosse, Wisconsin; Marshalltown, Iowa; and Calgary, Alberta. From 1915 to 1923, Dawson was director of the YMCA in Halifax. Then he accepted a post in New London, Connecticut. He and his wife Mary, returned to Halifax in the late 1940s. Dawson was interested in playground work throughout his career and was a supervisor of playgrounds on the Central Commons, Halifax. His last position was acting director of recreation for the City of Halifax. He retired in 1957 and died in Halifax on 8 August 1968. Nova Scotia Archives acquires, preserves and makes available the province's documentary heritage — recorded information of provincial significance created or accumulated by government and the private sector over the last 300 years. One of Canada's oldest archival institutions, we maintain a strong tradition of client service. Each year we assist thousands of researchers and general-interest visitors, both on site and online, in finding out more about themselves, their families, their communities and their province.

Luncheon in the open on the day of the confirmation of twenty three Belgian boys of the colony of the Comite France-American pour la Protection des Enfants de la Frontiere, at Rosay. The above meal was made memorable by the generosity of the neighbors who sent, "over" rabbits, cider and vegetables to which were added chocolate, custard and cake. The meal has given them pleasure for a member of the Committee who was present heard one of the boys say: "On voit tres bien que c'iet la confirmation aujourd 'hui"
