Summary
First Lt. Vernice Armour, a Super Cobra pilot with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169, is the Department of Defense's first female African-American combat pilot and was the first African-American female naval aviator in the Marine Corps. Armour, a Chicago native, earned her wings in July of 2001. Photo taken Feb. 6, 2003 at the Camp Pendleton Air Station, CA.
