The ordinaryapparatus used for diagnostic purposes requiresa larger primary current than I believe is safeand the ordinary apparatus also is not equippedwith means of measuring the primary current.For these reasons I believe it should not be usedfor the sort of work which I had under consider-ation. Of course, in desperate conditions likeinoperable carcinomas one might be justified inrunning the risk of injury by the use of uncertainand large quantities of light, but I take up in myarticle rather more extensively than the malig-nant diseases minor affections of the skin whichare treated with the x-rays, as acne, hypertrich-osis, and the treatment of such cases should beundertaken only with apparatus where the chancesof any damage are reduced to a minimum.
