By a suit-able place is meant some spotwhere one using the tele-phone may enjoy some de-gree of privacy, for nothingis more unsatisfactory thanto use the telephone while anumber of people are con-versing nearby or while mu-sic of any kind is in progress.A most complete little tele-phone room is part of ahouse not far from Boston.Here a tiny space some fivefeet square, ventilated andlighted by a small window,has been arranged under thestairs. The little room isprovided with a door whichmakes it sound proof, thereceiver is placed upon a lowtable, and a small settee isdrawn up closely at hand. Aclockis just above, andupon arack are telephone directory,time tables, and memorandapads, while a drawer containsa supply of pencils which areyoung son of the family. Theto make the most of its utility.
