Alaska-Yukon moose family, Denali National Park and Preserve, 2014.
Summary
The moose (Alces alces) is the largest extant species in the deer family. Moose differ from other members of its family by the palmate (i.e., leaf shaped) antlers of the males. Other Cervidae have dendritic (i.e., twig-like) antler configuration. Unlike most other deer, moose are solitary and don't form herds. Don't think the moose's generally slow-moving and sedentary behavior means you can approach them. On the contrary, moose can become aggressive and move quickly when angry or startled.
