Agriculture. Women on farms. Induction of much of America's manpower into the armed forces brings increased activity to U.S. farmer's wives, who, like Mrs. Harold Sontag of Maple Park, Illinois, finds the day all too short for the completion of her many chores. With one of her youngsters to help, she's tending the chicken feeder

Agriculture. Women on farms. The horses, cows, and chickens cared for, Mrs. Harold Sontag of Maple Park, Illinois, starts out for the farmhouse with her blonde, pre-school youngsters. Like many another U.S. farmer's wife, Mrs. Sontag takes an extremely active part in the management of her farm, which will be increasingly short-handed for the duration

Agriculture. Women on farms. There's a feminine hand at the controls of many of America's activities these days. Like many other farm wives whose husbands are engaged in war work, Mrs. William Wood manages a 120 acre farm in Colona, Michigan, with little male assistance. With a crop of corn, tomatoes and rasberries to harvest, she still finds time to care for her own Victory garden and to attend a first-aid class. And for the scrap drive Mrs. Wood salvaged 1,600 pounds of outworn metal and rubber articles from the farm, and contributed them to her local collection agency

One of these, Mrs. Harold Sontag of Maple Park, Illinois, finds the day all too short for the completion of her many chores. With cattle, horses, and poultry to tend, there are very few minutes for repose and relaxation in Mrs. Sontag's war-conditioned life
