110813-N-XQ375-353 GULF OF ADEN (Aug. 13, 2011) A visit, board, search and seizure team from guided-missile destroyer USS Mitscher (DDG 57) and a Coast Guard advanced interdiction team pull alongside the Sri Lankan-flagged cargo vessel, Al Habib in a rigid-hull inflatable boat. Mitscher responded to Al Habib?s distress call and provided two three-gallon containers of water, four cases of bottled water, and 20 loaves of bread to the 17 crewmembers aboard. Mitscher is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations and support missions as part of Operations Enduring Freedom and New Dawn.
