TOKYO (Dec. 06, 2008) Adm. Keiji Akahoshi, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Chief of Staff, waves as he stands with Capt. Thom Burke, left, commanding officer of the amphibious command ship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19); Yoichiro Esaki, member of the Japan House of Representatives; Vice Adm. Anthony Winns, U.S. Naval Inspector General; and Vice Adm. John M. Bird, commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, during a reception aboard Blue Ridge. The reception honors the U.S.-Japan alliance and the strong relationship between the U.S. Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Additionally, participants celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Great White Fleet, which visited Japan in 1908.
