Summary

A party of unidentified members of the Royal Fusiliers, including Australians, enjoying a cup of tea. A number of men of the AIF who were in England in 1919 awaiting repatriation obtained their discharge from the AIF and volunteered to join the force going to Russia. They were enlisted in the British army and allotted to units of the British North Russian Relief Force. In subsequent fighting against Bolshevik forces, two of the Australian volunteers, Sergeant Samuel George Pearse and Corporal Arthur Percy Sullivan serving with 45th Battalion, the Royal Fusiliers, were awarded the Victoria Cross for their actions.
