The ceremony included remarks by U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye and U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki. Sept. 2 is the anniversary of the signing of the Instrument of Formal Surrender of Japan to the Allied Powers, which took place aboard Missouri in Tokyo Bay.
