Summary

A simulated unexploded ordinance is on the flight line during Exercise Operation Varsity 19-04 at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Dec. 9, 2019. The scenario trained 786th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal flight to search for, identify, and neutralize UXOs. Exercise Operation Varsity 19- 4 evaluates, measures and reports the 86th Airlift Wing’s ability to react and respond to contingency in the most realistic environment possible. U.S. Air Force personnel with the 37th Airlift Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, prepare pallets of sacks of wheat flour in preparation for loading onto a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft which will fly into Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina on a relief mission. The three-year-old relief effort has been able to resume their relief missions after a five month hold due to aircraft receiving ground fire over Sarajevo.
