And any operation upon the blad-der is very difficult to perform through the perineum ;you have nothing like the chance for a thorough ex-amination, nor for an operative area, that you do inthe other method. Again, some prefer the perinealincision simply for diagnosis. It can be done undercocaine, without much pain or danger. The catheter, held in situ by one of the methods in-dicated, leads either to a collecting pouch,—as seen inthe top, left hand figure—or to a leg tube similar tothe urinal shown on page 60.
