Summary
Retired Army Sgt. Matthew Spang, Colorado Springs, Colo., sets a ball during the sitting volleyball competition at the 2014 U.S. Army Warrior Trials, U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., where more than 100 wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans from across the United States are competing in archery, basketball, cycling, track and field, swimming, shooting, sitting volleyball and wheelchair basketball. The Army Green team beat the Marines team in the first round of competition, and will be playing in the championship game against the Air Force team June 18. Army Warrior Trials, June 15-19, are hosted by Warrior Transition Command, and includes athletes with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, serious illnesses and amputations.
