(Sept. 3, 2016) Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Jasmine Carter demonstrates the mechanics of the 25 mm chain-driven auto-cannon to Eric West, chief lighting technician on TNT television series "The Last Ship," during a tour aboard USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) as part of LA Fleet Week. The tour was coordinated by Navy Office of Information West to help the show's crew gain increased familiarity with the guided-missile destroyer platform upon which the show's titular vessel is based. Wayne E. Meyer, homeported in San Diego is docked in Los Angeles Harbor for the duration of LA Fleet Week, from Sept. 2 to Sept. 5. Fleet week offers the public an opportunity to meet Sailors, Marines, and members of the Coast Guard and gain a better understanding of how the sea services support the national defense of the United States and freedom of the seas.
