MEMORIES one fluttering eagerness. He leaped from lifeto life in one bound, without hesitation, withoutregret. Not one sigh, not one look back, notthe faintest token of gratitude or regret at leav-ing those good people who had tended him fora whole year, buttered oat-cake for him, allowedhim to choose each night exactly where hewould sleep.
