Tubercular Syplull TUBERCULAR SYPHILILIC ERUPTIONS. 343 sionally the tubercles, appearing in small clusters, continue for awhile distinct and isolated, and afterwards blend at their basesby a process of peripheral augmentation which fills up theinterspaces. Each tubercle has now lost its individuality, andthe integument appears as if covered with the eruption ofpsoriasis. When a long term of years has intervened betweena primary chancre and the development of tubercles, the latterare apt to prove peculiarly obstinate in their resistance to treat-ment. If they appear upon any part of the face, they exhibit abrighter red color than when seated upon other districts that areprotected by the clothing. As with the papules of lichen so with syphilitic tubercles,there is some variety in their style of distribution ; henceWilson has given the names, tubercula corymbosa, tuberculacircumscripta, tubercula disseminata, tubercula annulata; andwhen there is a strong pyogenic tendency in the system,
