As you would surmise looking at the carvings at the ends of the pews, this is a most unusual chapel. It's one for dogs, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Those who have lost and terribly miss their much-loved pets, this is a place where they can be memorialized, both in special services and in hundreds of heartfelt notes, tacked to the walls. This is no lark; the tone, and the reverence shown the surroundings by visitors, is serious and sincere. Opened in 1999 by artist Stephen Huneck, it sits on Dog Mountain, which also contains a gift shop that sells some of Huneck's art
