Farrand Packing Co. A young berry picker on Curran's farm, Rock Creek. This boy, Irvan Stevans, and the other (see 828) were the only whites working with a large number of negroes that day, and bad language was abundant. Says he works from "sunup to sundown" and has been working 3 summers. [On card with captions for both #827 and #828: Norris Lovitt. Been picking for 3 years in berry fields near Baltimore, Md. These were the youngest white boys (there were several younger negroes) that I could find working in the Parker Heading Co. Lumber Yards, Poplar Bluff, Mo. (Sometimes called the Great Western Lumber Co.) I went through the buildings and yards. Smallest white boy is Frank Childers, Front St., Poplar Bluff. He and the other small boys help trim and carry strips to make barrel headings.  Location: Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
