Korniloff's soul is marching on the Founder of the Volunteer Army, as truly as George Washington was the founder of the Continental Army in America, was General Korniloff. In November 1918, Korniloff was killed by the explosion of a shell while at his Headquarters, "The Farm," on the outside of Ekaterinodar. As a symbol of Korniloff's continued presence with the troops, his six year old son, dresses in the uniform of a trooper, accompanies the Officers of the regiment. Perhaps the more important figure of the photograph is General Kootepoff, the commander of the Forces with Captured Kharkov
