Color expert for Uncle Sam. Washington, D.C., June 20. When it was discovered that color plays an important [role] in marketing of cotton, Miss Dorothy Nickerson, Color Technologist of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, developed a method for measuring the color of raw cotton mechanically. The equipment comprises a comparator, a motor on which to spin standard color discs, the color discs, and standard artificial daylight. When looking through the comparator, the operator sees a circular field, the upper half made up of the color of the cotton and the lower half made up of the disc colors, 6/20/38

Royal Air Force Bostons in daylight raid on Saint Malo. Boston bomber, escorted by fighters, on July 31 carried out successful attack in daylight on harbour works and installations at Saint Malo, and returned with photographs providing evidence that their bombs were well in the target area. At least sixteen bombursts can be seen in and around the bassin Dunguay Trouin, eleven in, or adjecent to, a builders' yard. Of the bursts in the bassin itself, one is a near miss on a 300 foot motor vessel, another a near miss on three barges on the opposite side of the bassin, and a third is either on the stern or on the quay alongside a motor vessel of 250-300 feet

Royal Air Force "Ventura" bombers blitz Den Helder in daylight. "Ventura" aircraft of Royal Air Force bomber command, escorted by fighters, attacked the docks at Den Helder by daylight on February 12, 1943. Their previous visit to the Dutch port was January 23. Action photo taken during the attack shows many bombs bursting across the southern entrance to the naval basin--four of them in the inner haven (Naval). Hits were scored on the torpedo boat establishment and the torpedo workshops east of the entrance. Smoke arises from bombs which burst in a line across the railway in the southwest part of the harbor
