Henry P. Davison Chairman of the War Council of the American Red Cross, inspects American Military, Naval, and Red Cross Activities in the South of England. Mr. Davison made a two day trip by Auto through Southern England. The first American troops he saw after leaving London, were a column of several thousand negros from Alabama marching up a hill in Winchester to a railroad station. The almost continuous downpour of rain did not prevent Mr. Davison from getting out of his car frequently to inspect things and people. He is shown here watching the line of negro troops turn sharply on the hill, where a group of the Red Cross women were passing out chocolate and cigarettes. All these troops were about to entrain for France
