Transcribed from photograph: "L.H. Griffiths home, 1415 4th St., where Rippey's restaurant now stands." The outline of a home with a similar structure can be seen in the 1893 Sanborn atlas. The structure does not appear on the 1888 atlas. An advertisement in the June 6, 1893 Seattle Post-Intelligencer lists "For Rent - Nicely Furnished Rooms. 1415 4th St. near Pike." Mary J. Wright (widow of Thomas A. Wright) is listed as one of the residents of 1415 4th Ave. in the 1891-1903 Seattle City Directories. Mary's sons John B. Wright and Samuel B. Wright are also listed as boarders. In February 1901 Mary received a permit to move the home. She sold the land on 4th Ave. in March 1903 and died two months later. Her obituary appeared in the Seattle Times on : ""Mrs. Mary J. Wright died in her home. 1827 Fourteenth Avenue, at the age of 72 years. Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Wright had been in ill health for the past four months and her death was not a surprise to her near relatives and friends. Mrs. Wright leaves two daughters and two sons. Mrs. L.H. Griffith and Mrs. Nellie Phinney, the widow of Guy C. Phinney, deceased. Mrs. Phinney has been spending the winter in San Francisco and left there last night for Seattle. The two sons are John B. and Samuel B. Wright of this city. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence of Rev. John F. Damon officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Cemetery under the direction of Butterworth & Sons. Mrs. Wright had been a resident of Seattle for twenty-eight years, having come from San Francisco in 1975. She was a native of Ireland, but came to the United states in her early girlhood with her parents, who settled in Michigan.""
