BS Downing Eagle and Dawson Stage Line horse drawn sled, crossing the US and Canada boundary line on the Yukon River, February (WARNER 482)

Benjamin S. Downing was born August 1861 in Maine. Before moving to Alaska in 1897, he was living in Rochester, New Hampshire, and working as a stock shipper. In 1900, he was living on the Yukon River north of Eagle and was working as a U.S. mail contractor. He also operated the B.S.
