Summary

NEWPORT, R.I. (Mar. 29, 2016) William F. Bundy, professor and director of the Gravely Naval Warfare Research Group at U.S. Naval War College (NWC), welcomes participants to a Future Surface Combatant workshop held at NWC in Newport, Rhode Island. The three-day workshop is the second of a series and focused on prioritizing research, development, and innovation efforts to create the Navy's future warship. It also served as an opportunity to support the NWC's missions of supporting combat readiness and defining the future Navy force by gathering surface warfare community stakeholders to identify technologies and capabilities for future U.S. surface combatants. The first workshop of the series was held at NWC Nov. 16, 2015, and focused on translating core Navy missions into operational and functional capabilities to define sensors, payloads, and operations that will be included in the future ship design. The next workshop is scheduled for later this year.
