Per note on the enclosure, WAVELET was "unloading salt from the Oliver Salt Works at an unidentified San Francisco wharf." Source: "P - A.E. Eppler 7-30-56".[CR][CR]Image reproduced in John Kemble's book, "San Francisco Bay: A Pictorial Maritime History," p. 84, with the following information: "The schooner WAVELET, built in 1878 by John J. Dirks, was 57 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 4.1 feet deep. A coastwise steamer is moored behind her, and Yerba Buena Island can be seen dimly in the distance. J. Porter Shaw Collection."
