View of Appomattox Court House Landscape in 1936
Summary
In August of 1933, jurisdiction of the site was passed to the National Park Service from the War Department. During this time, efforts to restore the property gained support. This 1936 view looks towards the Tibbs House. The Tibbs homesite had structures on it as early as 1846. It still stood into the 1970s, but it has since decayed past the possibility of stabilization.
