Summary
Former Tech. Sgt. Don W. Bertino, a WWII and Korean War veteran, watches as more than 50 vintage, World War II-era airplanes fly south along the Potomac River over the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., May 8, 2015. Bertino, a 91-year-old Army veteran served as an fuse setter during the Battle of the Buldge. The flyover was part of Victory in Europe Day events held to honor veterans, and mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe in 1945. The flyover included famous aircraft such as the B-17, B-24 and B-29 bombers as well as the P-51, P-40, P-39 and P-38 fighters, among others.
