Posthumous portrait of the Wallachian poet Costache Bălăcescu, drawn in ink by V. Cosmovici. Cosmovici, himself a poet, is best known as a medium who organized spiritist seances with fellow Romantic writers Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu and Theodor Sperantia.
