MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Feb. 28, 2009) The guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) approaches the Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Laramie (T-AO 203) to conduct a replenishment at sea. Vella Gulf is deployed as part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group supporting maritime security operations in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.
