Summary
U.S. Navy Sailors carry the casket of U.S. Navy Seaman 1st Class Paul S. Raimond, of Converse, Louisiana, was laid to rest July 11, 2017 in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, in Honolulu, Hawaii. On Dec. 7, 1941, Raimond was assigned to the USS Oklahoma (BB-37), which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft. The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 429 crewmen, including Raimond. Raimond was recently identified through DNA analysis and returned to his family for burial with full military honors.
