Summary

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Andrew Campbell, machine gunner with 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division fires a M240B machine gun during a Marine expeditionary unit exercise (MEUEX) in support of Weapons and Tactics Instructor course (WTI) 2-17 at East Tactical Airfield, Ariz., April 14, 2017. The MEUEX was designed to focus on airfield seizure operations and integration with a ground combat element with the intent to focus on MEU capabilities to seize a foothold in the littorals in a denied operating area using range on a simulated ship. WTI is a seven-week training event hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) cadre, which emphasizes operational integration of the six functions of Marine Corps aviation in support of a Marine Air Ground Task Force and provides standardized advanced tactical training and certification of unit instructor qualifications to support Marine Aviation Training and Readiness and assists in developing and employing aviation weapons and tactics.
