Lyle Lumbar, North Dakota National Guard (NDANG), digs a whole in the center of an earth lodge on Aug. 4, 2004 at Fraine Barracks, North Dakota, to be used as a fire pit and the only source of heat during part of the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program.
