U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers pick up spent brass on the M249 light machine gun range during Operation Cold Steel II at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif., October 24, 2017. To date, Operation Cold Steel II has expended XXX rounds of ammunition. Operation Cold Steel II is the U.S. Army Reserve's crew-served weapons qualificaction and validation exercise to ensure that America's Army Reserve units and Soldiers are trained and ready to deploy on short notice, bringing combat-ready and lethal firepower in support of the Total Army and our Joint Force anywhere in the world.
