Lance Corpal Matthew Gladden leads the Marines from the II Marine Expeditionary Force ( MEF) MAR for UNITAS ashore during amphibious landing excercises in phase 6 of UNITAS 37-96. LanceCorpal Gladden a native from Erie, Pennsylvania took part in the joint exercise in Paraguay. The Marine detachment conducted training evolutions in weapon familiarization , amphibious assault insertion, and tactics with members of the Paraguayan Marines. UNITAS is an annual operation in which a U.S. Navy task group conduct combined exercises with participating navies. The task group for UNITAS 37-96 include the frigate USS John L.
