Prior to the year 1881 it had been the custom to print in theseTransactions all Papers read before this Society relating in anyway to Leicestershire, whether such Papers had, or had not,already appeared in the annual volumes of Reports and Papersissued by the Associated Societies. That plan was adopted for two reasons—first, that inasmuchas the publication of our Transactions in a separate form wasnot commenced until some years after the formation of theSociety, it appeared desirable that members who had then recentlyjoined, and who, at that time, formed the majority on our list,should possess copies of all local Papers read at an earlier period,and in the second place because the plan then adopted broughtall our Leicestershire contributions together in a form most likelyto be of use to the future histo
