Summary

Satirical broadside recalling the 1745 rising and warning that the Scots are again aiming to overthrow the English. An etching showing a Scotsman who addresses the gallows at Tyburn and the ghost of a Scot; their conversation concerns the 1745 rising and the Scottish prediction that now war is over English soldiers and sailors will be hanged and, thanks to Lord Bute's new tax, Scotsmen will find employment as excisemen. The dove of peace flies above the gallows, and in the background a crowd accompanies the procession of a condemned man to Tyburn. Letterpress title and verses in two columns, and with one vertical and one horizontal segment of type ornament. (London, Burd: [March 1763])
