The theme of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Summary
The theme of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month event held at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., May 30, 2013, was diversity. Diversity not only in the cultural mix within America, but also that within the military from race, gender, culture and heritage, to rank and service, and how as a nation we honor, respect and invite such variety. Since it was signed into law in 1992, the month of May stands as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month; this month celebrates the contributions all Americans of Asian descent (to include Asian and Pacific islands) have made throughout American history to make this country what it is today.
