The Capitol Cutters, US Coast Guard Photo

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Lt. Cmdr. Buzz Johnson, a drummer with "The Capitol Cutters," practices for an upcoming holiday performance in their Coast Guard Headquarters rehearsal space. The Capitol Cutters are members of ?The Cutters,? a 20-piece big band that has provided musical entertainment for the last five Coast Guard Balls. Directed by Lt. Cmdr. Steve Wolf (ret.), the Cutters are all volunteer musicians from Coast Guard Headquarters, both active duty and civilian. The Cutters have performed for a wide variety of events highlighted by performances at the DOD Joint Services Open House at the Annual Andrews AFB Air Show (each year from 1995 to 2007), the Commandant?s State of the Coast Guard Address (2003-2007) and the Coast Guard Ball (2002-2007). The Cutters also perform several concerts in the Coast Guard Headquarters cafeteria each year for the enjoyment of all CGHQ employees, most notably the annual Holiday Concert with the Coast Guard Headquarters Chorus.
