Summary
The 17-member team, International Uchinanchu, translated to "International Okinawans," comprised of Futenma leaders, their families, U.S. and Japanese civilian workers and junior marines, performs in the 33rd Ginowan Hagoromo Festival Kachashi Dance contest, one of three major festivals held on Okinawa. This is the first time Americans have had the opportunity to participate in this festival. The participation of International Uchinanchu aimed to strengthen community relations between service members and Okinawans.
