Summary

U.S. Army Sgt. Manuel Espaillat (center, yellow jersey) evades the flag grasp of U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Loveland (right, red jersey) during a flag football game played to kickoff the Army Emergency Relief Campaign in Garmisch March 12. The first-ever event pitted soldiers from the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria – Garmisch Community and NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany, in an 8-versus-8 game to draw attention to the Army fundraising campaign. AER is a private, nonprofit organization incorporated in 1942 by the secretary of war and the Army chief of staff. AER's sole mission is to help soldiers and their dependents. Espaillat and Loveland work for the Marshall Center. The red team beat the yellow team 38-26. (DOD Photo by Christine June/RELEASED)
