South China Sea (Aug. 01, 2006) Ships participating in exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) including amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46), Royal Malaysian Navy Lekiu class frigate RMN Jebat (FFGM 29), guided missile frigate USS Crommelin (FFG 37), Royal Malaysian Navy Laksmana (Assad) class frigate RMN Laksmana Jamil (FSGM 135) and Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer USS Hopper (DDG 70) participate in a divisional tactics (DIVTACS) exercise. The at-sea training is taking place during the Malaysia of CARAT, an annual series of bilateral maritime training exercises between the United States and six Southeast Asia nations designed to build relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
