Summary

The 40th Public Affairs Detachment would like to introduce Sgt. 1st Class Miguel Puga, a native of Riverside, California, and an artillerymen with 101st Airborne Division Artillery "Guns of Glory", 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
Puga, who was born in Michoacan, Mexico, joined the Army directly following high school. Prior to joining the Army, he worked as a bus boy at a Denny's restaurant.
While at the U.S. Army Recruiting office, Puga was asked if he would like to shoot big bullets, and he said, “sure.”
“I joined because I wanted to do something different,” Puga said. “At the time, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I signed, but I did it anyway.”
Puga enjoys going to the field and doing his job by firing lots of rounds. He has been on three deployments; two to Afghanistan, and one to Iraq.
Puga is married, and he and his wife have a 13-year-old daughter. In addition to spending quality time with his family, he enjoys many activities.
“I like the outdoors, activities like hiking and sports,” Puga said. “I really like soccer.”
Puga’s future Army goals are to retire from the Army and spend more time with family. The Army has made a tremendous impact on his life and he appreciates the many experiences he has had.
“My favorite thing about the Army is the fact that you get to meet new people from different backgrounds that can come together to accomplish a task.” Puga said.
