U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (Apr. 09, 2014) Fire Controlman 3rd Class Matthew Dawson, from San Diego, and Fire Controlman 2nd Class Samuel Johnson, from Yorktown, Va., man the NATO Sea Sparrow missile system control console in the combat information center aboard the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5). Bataan is the flagship for the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (22nd MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
