Summary
Russia 1894-05-17 cover sent registered from Moscow to Halle (Saale) Germany. Reverse franking 4x5kop (Mi. 48), and arrival postmark Halle 1/6 94. Correct franking, tariff of March 8, 1889: 1 lot 10+10=20 kop. From 1882 a circular marking with an 'R' was introduced to indicate registered mail because foreign post offices were not able to understand the Russian word 'ZAKAZNOE' especially when written in cyrillic.
