Ruby and Clarence Bishop - Cloyne
Summary
'Ruby and Clarence Bishop lived for years on the family land currently occupied by the Bishop Lake Tent & Trailer Park. Their house is presently lived in by their great nephew Bob Yearwood and his wife and is located on the south side of the property, immediately north of the old Barrie SS#1 school house (now an antique store). ..Ruby (1906-1989) had been a public school teacher for years at the school which adjoined their property as well as at the Marble Lake School. She was a church organist and played for years at the Cloyne United Church. She hosted the Church choir in her home for practice every Thursday evening. Her reluctant retirement was brought forth by impending health concerns...Clarence (1901-1989) had been a farmer on the Bishop property. Both he and Ruby were very involved with the Pioneer Club when it began in 1972 and remained active members until their departure in the mid 1980s.' .Reprinted from The Oxen and the Axe- a publication from the CDHS available at the online bookstore: pioneer.mazinaw.on.ca/store.php ( http://pioneer.mazinaw.on.ca/store.php ) ..Unknown date.
