This solution normally retains its colorunchanged for 48 hours, and is so very sensitive that a difference of tintmay be observed between two portions of the solution, one of which isexposed to the rays for three minutes, while the other portion is screenedfrom the action. Slight heat and light will alter the color of the solution,and, although this method is most accurate and sensitive, the solution istoo unstable for practical and clinical purposes. The iodoform (CHI3) is decomposed by the X-rays, with the libera-tion of free iodine, imparting a claret-color to the solution. Freundssolution shows a change of tint in six minutes, equal to that attained inten minutes by the use of Holzknechts pastilles. 436 ELECTEO-THEEAPEUTICS.
