Ritual Wine Cups, Bronze, Chinese Collection Rijksmuseum.
Summary
In ancient China, such wine cups were called zhi. They come in two types: slightly flattened, and round. The flattened type was in vogue during the Sang and Western Zhou Dynasties (c. 1750-772 BCE). The round type remained popular until the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (772-256 BCE). The wine cups were used during the festivities after ritual ceremonies.
